Best Quality for Viewing .MKV Files

Quick question for everyone -

I have some .MKV files of a TV show in high def 720p which I'd like to view on my TV in the best quality possible. Would I be better off converting them to another format and burning them to DVD or hooking up my computer to the TV through DVI? Which method would yield the highest quality picture?

Hi,

Everytime you convert, you will loose quality.

Quality = Different for everyone.

I am very pleased with the output of VSO ConvertXtoDVD.

Some other users will use other encoders with 2 pass and are still not happy. So all I can suggest is try a few of the softwares:

VSO ConvertXtoDVD
DVDFlick (Free)
The Film Machine (Free)

then use a software that will make YOU happy...

Thank you sir,

I actually had ConvertXtoDVD in mind and gave it try, for some reason none of my players could recognize the disc after I burned it. So I converted the files to a disc image and reburned, which I was able to play. It was kind of a hassle but I'm satisfied with the results, thanks for your help!

Hi,

The most common error why the disks are not recognised, it someone generated a PAL DVD instead of an NTSC.

Having it on "Automatic" is not a good idea, people should select what they need.
