I've waded around in the forums a bit and I still don't have a real good grasp of things. I have a fat PS2, a network adapter and compatible HD. I'm tired of replacing lasers and haggling with SwapMagic, what else do I need to run my backups from the drive? I've read about memory card exploits, USB exploits, and I'm still not sure. If it is HDLoader, can it be a pressed copy or is it like the SwapMagic? Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

First off you will need to make an exploit installer disc to install HDloader onto a memory card.

Only things required are one blank cd-r, method of booting installer on cd-r (swapmagic, chip, action replay, etc), and some patience. The rest can be aquired for free on the net.

Once you have HD loader installed onto the memory card you can either boot it by
-using a ps1 game as a trigger disc (note:this will require the laser to read a ps1 game every time HD loader is launched)
-using a chip that supports booting from Dev1
-using a chip that supports booting from Dev2 (note: you will need to install HDloader onto the HD for this option)

If you need any more help just post back.
:)

hdloader 0.8b elf is the cheapest way to go, because it's free. also, hdloader has the highest game compatability of all hd loading software.

you can find hdloader 0.8b at sksapps.com, in the ps2 hdd section.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

action replay MAX can be found in any store. it's what i used and is very easy to create the exploit.

even if you were going to buy a retail disc, hdloader is the best way to go. the hdloader elf is the only one that can read drives up to 2TB, but no one needs that much space. 200 or 300 gigs is plenty of space for games, emulators, videos, etc.
