I'm looking for a karaoke DVD player that can play a disc with thousands (or hundreds) of songs. I've heard Mediacom's MCI5500 can do this but it is quite expensive. The player includes a special disc that contains thousands of karaoke songs. Apparently, the disc is encoded so it will only play in MediaCom machines.

What kind of disc does this player use that can jam in so many AV files (it must be huge)? What technology is behind this disc (and player)? Can this disc be ripped and copied onto another disc and played in a convential karaoke DVD player (like LG DK172)?
