I would just like to know which is the best media for backing up PS2 games. I went to get a 2nd hand dvd burner and i thought bargain, but cancelled it coz it was DVD +R and i have heard that DVD -R is better for burning anything really.
But would like info from anyone which they have found to be best
its some v4 ps2, because i have a v4 ps2, and it plays dvd+R movie's, great, i used memorex for movies, havent really burned games yet, still waiting on my fliptop cover and my smd to arrive. hopefully tommorow ill receive the package, ill keep you updated if memorex really sucks
Thanks for the help. I decided against the dvd+R drive anyway just to be safe. I have some back up movies and they are on dvd -R and they play fine unless over 2 hours long then they sometimes get pixels on the screen.
Have also ordered a flip top with sm v3 and a mod chip to so ill look into a dvd -R burner when the pennies come in again :)
hey all. i've had a sony dru 500ax for about 3 weeks now and am not having much luck playing backup dvd movies on my ps2.
i've had two successes, both of them DVD-5's burnt on cheapo compusa dvd-r's using DVDDecrypter as the afterdawn guide suggests (doing the rip and burn as iso).
Since, i've yet to have a DVD-9 backup work in my ps2 (version 5). maybe this should go in the dvd-r for newbies section, and i may post there, as well, but part of my question is to ask whether this is a media or a method issue.
The media I've used for dvd-9's are:
Memorex
Ritek
BeAll
TDK
(and, of course, the cheapo compusa)
all with no success. this is ripping with DVD Shrink and burning with either Nero (using mccann's guide) or pinnacle.
these backups will play on my boss's sony dvd player, on my good friend's car audiovox dvd player, and are autodetected as a dvd movie by my pc, but not on my ps2, which is kind of my portable dvd player which i use quite a bit.
I've had good luck burning ps2 games (all legal backups of course) onto Ritek G04's. Both DVD Decrypter and Nero seem to work pretty well for backing up ps2 games.
