I'm struggling to get to grips with the TOC refresh function.

I have SM 3.6 and a brand new slim ps2 #79003 (cant find a nomal version number anywhere...most lists seem to end at v15)

I think I'm following the procedure properly, but cant seem to get anything to work. Here's what I'm doing:

Boot SM DVD
At Load Disk Screen, remove SM DVD and remove one sensor block to get the Insert Larger TOC Disc screen
Put in original large TOC disc, replace sensor block

The disc spins and laser moves then says "Not a valid PS2 disc", and then I can do nothing. If I ignore it, and put the ripped game back in and press X, it just spins and doesn't load anything. I think the rip is good as it was done a 1x to a Sony DVD-r

Is there some compatibility issues with the latest PS2 versions and SM? And if so is there some other way to do a TOC refresh?

Any thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated!

ive got a 79001 and just got my swap magic today. i didnt have to do a toc refresh. i just booted the sm and at the screen that says load program, make the swap with the backup and hit x. worked like a charm
