I just bought a new slim 2000 psp from Best Buy. It already came with v3.80. I was in high hopes that I would be able to download multiple video games if I payed for a monthly, reliable, site that allows you to do so. I even bought a 2gb memory stick with those same high hopes. When I found out you could not get custom firmware or even play ISO's off the memory stick... I was completely bummed. I also wanted to rip the files off of the UMD's I owned onto my memory stick for backing-up purposes. Now I have to follow Sony's rules and play by the book.

If anyone has any ideas for me that I can do in order to play ISO's on my PSP memory stick, please post to this thread. Even if I have to wait until a new official firmware comes out, I'll do it. Just a question would be how long would i have to wait for that to come true.. an even tell me if that would fix things.

Right now, when I try to upgrade the 3.80 m33 custom firmware it reads it but when I open the file it starts up like a UMD would and then says "Game could not be started." and then an error message come up. I would give you the error message but I do not have the upgrade on memory stick anymore, nor do I think you need or care to know the specific error.

The question here is... Do I have to wait until they come out with a new official firmware, and also wait until a new custom firmware comes out? And if I do wait, will I eventually be able to run/read/play ISO files off of the memory stick?

I hope to god I'm not stuck forever so I can't ever play ISO files off the memory stick.

By the way, when I try to read .cso files, it says corrupted data file. When I try to play it with the folder and .bin or whatever that file is that is in the .cso, it also says corrupted data file. However, when I try to play the .ISO file format, it reads on the capacity of the meory stick that it's there, but when I go into the game/memory stick on the interface, it doesn't even recognize the .iso file. (No games found)

If any of you smart guys that know anything about psp and firmwares, please give me an answer or two.

THANKS A LOT GUYS!

Or, is there any possible way you guys might know that will allow me to at least read/play ISO's off of the memory stick when I am running v380 official?

By the way, I am getting the .cso files off of the site called www.fantastico.cl/c13

I don't know, maybe that's why they are saying the files are corrupted. Maybe if I got the files from a reliable site, then it wouldn't say corrupt data when it tries to read .cso files. I also extracted the .cso with umdgen v4.00 and then burned the file/folder into an .iso file format. I don't know if that's why it gives me those error messages.

thanks a lot for your help

PB is a custom battery which has either had its eeprom changed by software or by hard modding (cutting pin5) so that it acts as a service battery.

in conjunction with a specially formatted memory stick, the service battery will give you pre-ipl access allowing you to downgrade or install custom firmware

you could look to ebay, or there are many people offering free downgrading on this superb website
