Hello guys, I tried to make my thread title as descriptive as possible. Ok, I'm completely new to the PS2 world. Amazingly I've actually never ever owned a PS2. What can I say I never thought that it would last as long as it has.

In any case I'm a little confused about all the different aspects of modding. So I was wondering what the best model PS2 and modding device to buy is. I'd probably prefer a mod device that was user friendly, i.e. one that didn't require me to do any soddering. That swap magic boot disk thingie sounds interesting, does that work good?

Now I've heard it said before that just getting a premodded PS2 is easiest but the only premods I could find were $300 and that's just too steep for me right now. So I figured I'd go with the cheaper method of Swap Magic+Slide Tool.

So after doing a bit of research here on the forum's I'm thinking of getting the following and wanted to make sure I had everything right.

PS2(Slim) http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PlayStation-2...01331331&sr=8-1
Swap Magic 3.6 http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php?...&cat=269&page=1
Slide Tool http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php?...&cat=269&page=1

Is this everything I'll need? If you guys know of any better places to purchase that stuff I'm open to going with them. I just chose amazon to buy the ps2 because I buy a lot stuff there and they've always seemed reliable. Are there any places that are cheaper? I'm not actually in Canada, I live in the US so if there's a better place to buy that mod stuff, I'll go there instead as well.

Thanks!

i would recommend softmodding a fat PS2 if you can get one. its easy and doesnt void warranties or anything. check out my tutorial if you want!
