Can I use the CD driver that came with my package or do I need to get this "Breaker Pro" thing?

I have a slim and a fat ps2, what's the method for playing ps1 backups on slim? I've been searching for quite awhile.
Is there a way to play them on the fat ps2 as well?
Note:
when i use swap magic 3.6 plus to try and boot ps1 backups it says "not a valid ps2 disc."

For the slim ps2 you need a original ps1 game it doesnt matter which.
put it in your ps2 with the lid open and when the ps2 screen turns black quickly change the oroginal to the back up or the import game and it will work.
for the fat you need breaker pro

Please note... that method for booting PS1 back-ups/imports is not only tricky to pull off, but also bad for your PS2! I wouldn't even recommend it for your PS2 when other alternatives are cheap and easy.
If nothing else, use the free, easy, and *safe* Independence Exploit on your fat PS2. That way, your fat PS2 can basically be your PS1 gaming console, and your slim PS2 can be your PS2 gaming console. Otherwise, there are a few PS1 boot discs out there that you can use for booting back-up/import PS1 games on your slim PS2 (well, most of them work on *any* PS1 or PS2).

I've tried that first method before and it does look bad for your PS2. My laser was going up and down trying to read a disc that wasn't there when I swapped out a FF7 original PS1 disc so I just shut off my PS2 immediately because it didn't look healthy for my laser! I don't recommend that method to anyone.
Buying a PS1 boot disc for my slim PS2 (SCPH-79001) sounds much more worth it because I don't want to damage my laser. I hear that Breaker Pro can be used to play PS1 backups on your PS2? I currently have Swap Magic 3.6 and Magic Keys. Do I just put in the Magic Keys to block the sensors, put in the Breaker Pro disc, take it out when it stops spinning (like Swap Magic) and then swap in the PS1 backup and play? Apparently the Breaker Pro works with a flip top but I use the keys, not the flip top.
I have a ton of old PS1 backups lying around and my old modchipped PS1 is almost 9 years old and my spindle hub is broken so the system won't read any discs well, original or backup cd-r. And even if I replace the spindle hub, my PS1 laser's lifespan is probably not that long anymore though I haven't played on the PS1 in a few years. So getting a PS1 boot disc to play PS1 backups on my PS2 sounds like the ideal solution.

@inagasake: Yeah, in your case, getting a boot disc like Breaker Pro is your best bet. Whichever one you may get, be sure to check their forums or support to make sure it works on the newer (slim) PS2's. I can verify that the Gameshark Lite works on everything but the slim PS2's, so just take caution that the same isn't true for others (to my recollection, Breaker Pro works fine on a slim, but I can't test this myself to find out). I can't remember if Breaker Pro uses a menu interface to give step-by-step usage, but yes... Your magic keys will work either way to get past the sensors.
@ilcmdme: The memory card exploit will *not* allow you to play PS1 back-ups or imports. I have tried every rumored method to do so on both my PS2's, with no success. You'll have to use a modchip or PS1 boot disc (*not* a Swap Magic CD) to boot PS1 back-ups and imports.
