How to save Halo 3 game

anyone here knows how to save the Halo 3 game progress under the campaign mode? I'm using an Xbox Arcade without HDD but with 256MB memory card,but the game progress doesn't automatically save. Anyone knows how to save the game to a memory card?

its been a while but i believe you press pause and go to save and quit.

i dont think you can save to a memory card directly you probably need a hdd but then again i may be wrong, is it just halo or on any other games

It's just Halo 3. All the other games are saving. As for Halo 3, when i press start there are only 3 options, (Revert to Last Saved, Restart Mission and End Game). There's no Save and Quit in the Option.
