...I have never attempted to search out a MOD CHIP, but have recently decided to back-up older games that are getting worn out. Now that I am doing that I will obviously be in need of a CHIP...

Where can I find one that is reliable, easy to use, and affordable. I have tried searching, but get a lot of dead links and/or 'out of stock' listings...

Any help would be great...

Any extras someone might want to rid themselves of would be nice also.

I should mention I have a PS2 'Slim' version...

Thanks,
Chris

Does that require soldering?

I would also hope that anything that I got would come with good instructions...I can do it..just need guidance...hehe...

Thanks,

Chris,

Yes, the mod chip will need to be soldered. Here is a link for the Duo 3 Ultra site...

http://www.duomodchip.com/english/install.htm

Install diagrams are there along with the chip features.

I tell you what, installing a chip in my PS2 was the smartest thing I did. I have 3 kids, 2 of whom are PS2 fans, the other one isn't old enough yet, and they are terrible with game disks. Backing up my games and putting them away saves me mega bucks. They can, I don't encourage them to, drop kick, throw, get sicky crap on the backups all they want. If it doesn't work anymore, I can make another.

I hope that site helps.

As far as those diagrams go....Are they relating to the PS2 board version? I am at work right now and haven't had a chance to look at the box itself yet.

I am assuming that I just buy the MOD Chip and use the associated diagram from the PS2 MB Version and solder accordingly...I have also never opened a PS2, but assume that the areas that are to be soldered are relatively 'tiny' and might require some steady hands and precision. :)

I am sure I can handle it...will bring the box to work with me one day and open it up on my bench...
