Hello afterdawn subscribers. This is my first post on this site as I am very new to Nintendo Wii and getting it modded. The problem that I have is that I cannot seem to burn an image of my .iso file using Toast 8 Titanium for the Macbook (The equivalent of using Nero from what have have read and heard). The .iso file is about 4.38 GB, but when I try to burn it, the Toast application says that the file is too large and exceeds the capacity of the DVD i am using (Philips DVD+R, 4.7 GB, 120 min, 1-16X speed). I have also tried going into Disk Utility and then burning the .iso file from there, but when it finishes burning the DVD, the DVD is blank and contains no information. If anyone could provide a solution for me, I would appreciate it. I also apologize in advance if this specific situation was answered in a previous thread. Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Kazu~

i always use disk utility to burn .iso files burned at low speed. i stick with verbatim discs.

i never experienced a blank dvd after burn. do you mean blank as you can reburn on the same disc? are you sure you're not running a test burn?

and it's normal that you cannot read the data on the disc on your macbook even though you burned the iso correctly and your wii can read it. but it never shows up as a blank disc on my macbook. only a error that it can't be read or something.

do you verify the disc after burn? is everything ok and it says sucsessful burn?

I use the disk utility app. too and burn at no more than 4 speed, I never verify my disk. only had a couple of duds so far out of at least 40 back ups.

use disc utility just like everyone is saying.

the finished disc will NOT be readable by the mac as its now formatted for the Wii only (and select DVD-ROM drives). only way to know for sure is to try it on the Wii.

Hey all,

first and foremost, thank you very much for answering my question. It really helped me out. I used disk utility and dragged my .iso file into the left panel and then pressed the burn button. After I clicked on it, I followed the prompts and set my speed to 4X. In the "After Burn" category, I clicked on verify burned data and checked mount on desktop. So after it burned, the DVD booted up but it says that the DVD is empty/no data in it. I find it to be strange, but when i try to use this "empty DVD" to burn something else it rejects it as it does not have enough space. Anyways, I am going to try popping this into the Wii and get some tests on this.

Thanks again for all the helpful responses,

~Kazu

P.S. ~ i searched around the forums today and came across some people that use "Wiijunkies" as the application to burn/back up games. Would this program be better to use than Disk Utility for my situation?

i never tried burning with wiijunkies. i only used wiiunkies to change game region and remove updates in the .iso.

i think you should try your discs with the wii. they could work because as it's been written here, the disc is formatted for wii, so a mac won't be able to read it.

I just thought I'd add, for anyone who pops by to read this, that WiiJunkies does work for burning the iso's also. Just make sure to have the burn setting on the lowest setting and you'll be fine. The only issue I've came across was with dual layered games (such as Smash Brothers) which my final result was looking towards windows for help
