How do I get DVD rom to hard drive

I'm very new to this and have a question. My sister gave me a wedding video she had recorded on a dvd recorder, I think it's dvd rom. Now I want to edit it but don't know how to get it to my hard drive. Please help!

You should take a look at the DVD-ripping guides on this page. You could begin with ripping the DVD content (.vob files) with the program Smartripper. After that just follow a guide and you'll have DivX/MPEG of your sister's most beautifull moment ;-) on your HD...
