hey guys im sorry for posting a stupid question but i cannot figure this out. Ive spent 8 hours reading forums and trying at least 7 different quick installs, wininstalls, and manual installs all with the same result.

I originally got to 3.4 oe-a from the lumines exploit and have remained there for like a year. Now i wanted to upgrade to 3.71 via the 3.52 m33 route, but cant even get this first step to work.

after the update folder is built, under game its says 3.52 m33 update which i select. Psp reboots then comes to the "The game could not be started" 80020148 and thats as far as it goes. any help is greatly appreciated guys and i apologize if this has been answered somewhere else believe me ive looked lol

i had the same problem, i just googled it, it's an easy fix.. here..

"TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1. Goto Recovery Menu (turn off then hold R and turn on)
2. Configuration -> Use NO-UMD (Disable it)
3. Go all the way back to main menu
4. Advanced -> Advanced Configuration -> (Disable all of them)"

it should work after that..

Download the Recovery Folder here http://www.sendspace.com/file/c8qlpx

Go into recovery or XMB and access your usb
Put the RECOVERY folder in the PSP/GAME folder which should include the UPDATE.PBP which is the 1.50 update eboot
Close ur USB and access your Recovery menu
Make sure you have 75% battery left becuase this will flash your psp and format ur flash0
Click on Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP
Do not turn off your psp. Let it go untill it asks for you to restart manually.
Check your PSP Settings and you should be back at 1.5
Now you have a choice of staying at 1.5 or going back up again to custom firmware

No :P
To upgrade to 3.80m33, you need 3.71m33 firmware >_>
And for 3.71m33 you'll need 3.52m33 :P
So, well, you know what to do ;)
A guide is already given ^_^
HERE it is again ^_^

But I would recommend you to juz upgrade to 3.71m33-4 ^_^
3.80m33-5 is still not stable and has some bugs >_<

Ah cool, so i do this first

Installation for 1.50
Installing 3.52 Custom Firmware on a 1.50 PSP:

* Copy the folders 'kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher%' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/' on your PSP's memory stick.
* Copy the folder 'M33CREATOR' to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/' on your PSP's memory stick.
* Run the kxploitpatcher program.
* Download the official 3.52 update: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1209 and rename to 352.PBP.
* Copy the 352.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.
* Download the official 1.50 update: http://rapidshare.com/files/67857715/163_EBOOT_1.50.zip and rename to 150.PBP.
* Copy the 150.PBP to the directory; 'X:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/' on your PSP's memory stick.
* Execute '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under GAME on your PSP.
* Then execute '3.52 M33UPDATE' under GAME on your PSP.
* Once finished, press X.
* Have fun on 3.52 Custom Firmware!

Then

There you go 3.52M33-4
now on to 3.71m33
you will need
3.71 M33: http://www.psp-vault.com/UpDownload-req-...ls-lid-2140.psp
and 3.71 Update file: http://www.psp-vault.com/UpDownload-req-getit-lid-2123.psp
MAKE SURE YOU KERNEL IS SET TO 3.52
you can do this in recovery mode
start the psp up whilst holding the R shoulder button down,go to configuration find the option for kernel and make sure it's on 3.52

sorry but its all a bit confusing for me

okies ^_^
I'll try and explain it in my own way ^_^

-First of all, download the 3.52m33 update from HERE ^_^
-If you are on "1.50" firmware, then, copy the "kxploitpatcher" and "kxploitpatcher%" folders in the "1.50only" folder that you got in the downloaded file, in your "X:/PSP/GAME" (where "X" is your PSP drive letter)
-Then run the program in your PSP ^_^
-Now, download the official 3.52 firmware update from HERE and the official 1.50 firmware update from HERE
-Then, rename the 3.52 update to "352.PBP" and the 1.50 update to "150.PBP" ^_^
-Then, place both these files in the "M33CREATOR" folder ^_^
-Then copy the "M33CREATOR" folder to "X:/PSP/GAME" folder of your PSP ^_^
-Run the '3.52 M33 CREATOR' under the 'GAME' option of your PSP ^_^
-Then you will get a file named '3.52 M33UPDATE' ^_^
-Run the '3.52 M33UPDATE' ^_^
-Once finished, press the "X" button on your PSP ^_^
-Enjoy, you have 3.52m33 now ^_^
-You can format your memory stick if you want ^_^

*If you want to remain in 3.52m33 firmware, then update to 3.52m33-4*
*HERE is the update*

If you want to go to 3.71m33, then :-
-Download 3.71m33 from HERE
-Download the official 3.71 firmware update from HERE
-Rename the 3.71 update to "371.PBP" and copy the file to the "UPDATE" folder of the 3.71m33 file you downloaded ^_^
-Then copy the "UPDATE" folder to the "X:/PSP/GAME" folder of your PSP ^_^
-Then make sure you've configured your PSP GAME folder to run on 3.52 kernel in the recovery mode ^_^
Quote:
To access recovery mode follow the following steps :-
1. Completely shut down your PSP (Not stand-by)
2. Hold the "R" button (i.e right trigger) while starting your PSP ^_^
3. You are now on recovery mode
It should look something like THIS

Then go to "Configuration" and in "Game folder homebrew" option, put it to "3.52 kernel" ^_^
-Make sure your battery is completely charged (You need 78% battery for the update)
-Then run the program ^_^
-Press X, and the Sony updater will begin. Sit and enjoy while Sony code installs 3.71 M33 :)
-When finished, the updater will ask you to reboot (pressing X or O). DO IT. Do not skip this step or else your PSP will brick !!! >_<
-You should now be on 3.71 M33 8)

Now, download the 3.71m33-4 update from HERE and update your PSP ^_^
I recommend that you remain here because 3.80m33-5 still has bugs and 3.90m33 has juz released, so, bugs are expected :P

If you want, you can put the 1.50 kernel for 3.71m33 if you play 1.50 homebrew apps and games ^_^
HERE is the 1.50 kernel update for 3.71m33 ^_^

My (+[__]%) life - HERE :)
