Hello to all. I am having difficulties burning with my new LG GSA4040B. I am a novice so please try your best not to speek in strange tongues.
I am simply trying to burn a DVD copy of a DVD copy. I am reproducing some home videos that have already been burnt once...
I am using DVD-R with the B's Recorder Gold. I realize that one of the B's software programs does not allow burning with DVD-Rs. Problem is that when I get to the end (about 99% completed) I get an error saying that the program was not able to complete the burn do to the disk being dirty. This has happened on numerous occasions and I have yet to get a clean burn. And no, the disks are not dirty or smudged.
Is there a better program to use for making copies? I am a little ticked that LG's directions are not geared to the average consumer. I do have SOME computer savy but burning, thus far, has been like learning a new langauge. I am using Ritek GO4s by the way... Thank you for any help!!!

Hi peatycap, You want to copy a dvd copy of Home video. I take it the original copy plays ok. I never used B software so I don't know how it works. I would use Nero and just do a disc copy. All you do is insert the original, click complete disc copy, it will burn to HD and ask for a blank. Insert blank and you are done. Jerry

I have tried Nero. It tells me that there is not enough space on the blank to hold the data from the original. Maybe I am trying the wrong application from within Nero. I am using the one where you drag files from the orginal down and then burn. I have been dragging the "TS" video files. Am I on the right track? Thank you...

If the original was already copied onto a dvd blank, it has to fit on another. Open Nero Express and click COPY ENTIRE DISC. You shouldn't have to drag files anywhere. It will read the original to your HD, then ask for a blank. Then it will burn the HD files back to the blank automatically. No files to drag or add anywhere. Jerry

I am using NeroDVDplus 5 - the software that came with the burner. I am placing the original DVD into the LG4040B - the E Drive - to be read. When I did this, it starts the reading process and gets almost to the end and cannot proceed. Same thing when reading from my DVD player - the F Drive. I am using the correct software or is there a better Nero version. You said Nero Express... Again, thank you for the help.

I'm not familiar with that Nero program. You said it came with the burner so it may be special program. Is there a button in it to do a complete disc copy? I use Nero version 6, part of it is called Nero Express. Do you by chance have either Roxio 6 platinum or Recordnow. Both of these also have a section to do complete disc backup. I would think that even your version of Nero should have a complete disc copy section. It may say copy compete disc or copy entire disc. I think you can download the trial version of Nero 6 off their site. Could you be running out of HD space? You need about 5 gig of space to copy a dvd to HD. 10 gig is better for regular movies. Jerry

I've had similiar 'not enough room' with Nero. Get DVD Decrypter (free, and you should have it anyway). Under Mode choose ISO Read, then put in your blank and choose ISO Write.
Note the G04's are not a good match for the LG. Although 2x, the G03's are a great match.

1. That is not NeroDVDPlus 5 but NeoDVDPlus 5.
2. Visit LG's web site to download patches to B's and NeoDVDPlus etc.
