Can I flash my modchip without removing it from Wii?

Hi,

My modchip is quicksoldered onto my Wii. I wonder if I can just connect it to a JDM programmer and flash it without removing it from the Wii. The Wii of course will not powered on during the flashing.

Is this possible? Anyone done this before?

It is wiifree, I know I can simply update it to YAOSM. But the issue is, can I safely update it while the modchip is quicksoldered to my Wii?

Or do I have to remove the modchip as usual?

I'm not too familiar with the WiiFree, other than what I've read online. Unless someone can confirm that they've updated it this way, I would recommend going the safe route.
