I have made about 20 coasters now. Ive tried many ways to back up my dvd's and have not been successful. I've tried dvd decrypter, dvd shrink and work well abut can't burn . the last thing I tried was following some nero guide by chrismann.co.uk (or something like that) from the UK. it recorded successful but will not play on my DVD player or PC. What else should I try ? Should I go DVD xcopy route?

Please help

Thanks.

you didn't have a successful burn if it can't be read by a pc.

What kind of burner do you have? What kind of media are you using (brand and type)? What version of Nero are you using?

I would not necessarily go the xcopy route. I would try other burning programs. I tried Nero and could not get it to work and started using recordnow and it works great. No coasters since then. Some people use burnatonce and CloneDVD. Xcopy is even more picky and has fewer ways to work out solutions.

Thanks everybody for your help.

I'm using a Panasonic DVDr/RAM. If I go to my computer and select the drive where the movie is then I see a folder with VOB and stuff.

Do we need to call that folder VIDEO_TS???? I've been calling this folder what ever the movie is called.

i also have RecordNow max 4.10 and Comp USA DVD-r media. This is what I use to back up my PS2 games and worked great. Does anybody know of a guide using RecordNow ?

Rotary,

what's the difference between Mode1 and Mode2?

Thanks again.

EDIT!

use the link in my sig for guides to recordnow max!

mode 1 and mode may not mean anything for dvdr's but!!! one is used for allowing long file names and the other short! mode1 i think can be read on alot of older pc's? but dont quote me on this...

check out the recordnow guides at these sites. I think the latest is 4.6 but I'm not sure.

Yes, they do need to be in VIDEO_TS, but only for the standalones. Computers will figure it out. If the movies are not to be watched on TV, then you don't need the VIDEO_TS folder. ;-)

Be careful with the compusa media, I haven't heard anything good about it. With movies, you tend to utilize the full disc and poor quality control becomes more evident.
