I have a Sencor SHC-XD020 standalone DVD player with USB and SD inputs. My problem is when playing downloaded avi files encoded with Xvid or DivX - sometimes they freeze and can't continue, or sometimes continue after a short pause (though some files play fine). Playing the file through the USB or by burning onto a CD-RW and playing in the DVD drive produces the same behavior. I've checked problem files with DivXRepair and VirtualDub - both report NO bad frames. In a weird twist - in multiple episodes of a certain TV show, the avi's would freeze at the same point during the opening credits, then continue after a few seconds. Also, if the picture freezes but sound keeps playing, then usually the playback will continue after a short time. But, if both picture and sound stop, then all is lost.
I have tried changing Xvid files to Divx, both by just changing the fourcc and re-encoding with VirtualDub - the resulting file freezes in the exact same place! All files play fine on my computer, using BSplayer. Also, converting to DVD with ConvertXtoDVD also produces playable files, though I prefer not to have to do this for every avi file!!
I've run out of ideas to try - anyone have a similar problem or additional suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
