I have a few PAL games I want to play on my NTSC TV. I have a few questions....
If I buy Swap Magic will it work with the video select mode?
If not, would a PAL to NTSC convertor work (the $30 ones)?
If not, what about a digital Pal to NTSC convertor (like Atlona)?
Finally, is doing any of this likely to damage my NTSC TV or PS2?
P.S. Im not interested in copying, then converting and burning my games, i just want to play my originals.
as far as the swap magic question goes... yes it will allow you to play your game but unless you convert the PAL to NTSC somehow you will get a static/flipping screen. you know, like an old VCR when you needed to track it.
ive actually tested my tv with a pal signal with a portable dvd player set to pal, and my archos 404 set to pal. the screen doesnt flip. its just black and white, and the bottom is missing. so basically all the $30 convertor would do is turn the black and white to color? what about the digital convertors that are like $150, would that completely fix the problem, also i heard some people say they use a multiregion dvr to fix the issue? also thanks alot for your reply
i dont know about all of that man. when i went through the trouble of getting my swap magic so i could play resident evil code veronica x 2 and the screen flipped, i just screw it and i made a backup of that game with ntsc conversion and thats the one i play. i didnt get into all of the technical business of converting.
