Hi

I have a Wii (PAL) 3.1E with d2ckey fitted.

All has been fine for weeks with Original (Super Mario Galaxy) and numerous backups.
Last weekend I played Donkey Kong Jet Race (PAL) from DVD-RW disk which asked for an update. I accepted and it went well. The game plays fine. Other games have been played since like Super Mario Galaxy (Original). No problems.

This morning i tried to load Super Mario Galaxy and got the following error:

Unable to read disk

I then tried some other backups which worked previously and got the same error.
All the disks are CLEAN and have no scratchs or smudges. Disks have been inserted the right way.
All other options work like the Wii Channels etc.

Any ideas?

Regards

N

Update

Super Mario Galaxy PAL Original is now working, no other backups are.

Could the Update on the Donkey Kong Jet Race have knocked out the d2ckey chip? I didn't think this chip was flashable or can Nintendo now detect this chip and prevent backups from running?

Appreciate your thoughts......

I also have a PAL (UK) wii with a D2Ckey chip installed.
I have burned my games using verbatim DVD-R and +R media at 4x speed using nero 7 all have worked flawlessly.
I also have donkeykong jet race PAL which updated my system, but everything worked fine afterwards even though my system was already updated to the latest firmware via the internet beforehand.

I have noted though that sometimes the chip doesnt seem to identify my backups or even my originals sometimes and comes up with the black screen (unable to read disk). What i have done, is not eject the disk as it can damage the Wii drive.
Instead reset the wii system, (turn it back on) let it load the game and try again.
After about 4-5 tries my chip has worked again- and everything has worked well.
Do date all of my backups have worked fine- and still do so, except for times my chip decides to throw a wobbly.
For NTSC games just patch them with (Regionfrii) and not brickblocker as it can make them unplayable. And for PAL games keep them as they are. Japanese games i do not touch as i cant read the language...

When games dont work check the compatibility list as you may need to change your wii TV settings to adjust to the NTSC games from 50hz to 60hz visa versa....(http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php?title=Wii_Region_Patcher_Compatibility_List).

Good luck
