Problem converting .DIVX to .AVI

I have a movie with a .divx extension (movie.divx) that I need to convert to .avi or something that I can use to ultimately create a DVD.

I've searched for 2 days and found DIKO which assumes when you say divx, you're referring to avi (which obviously makes sense.) Then I found 'Open converter' which errors out when I hit convert. I'm running Vista.

Nevermind. I found the solution. I figured since divx is just an encoded avi, I renamed the extension to .avi. Encoded it via Santa and it works great.

Figured I'd post this thread anyway in case anyone else was wondering.

yea divx is avi
try just renaming the file .divx + . avi
