I have a mpg2 file that I'm encoding into a quicktime movie. The mpg2 is 2 hours exactly, but the quicktime movie becomes 1 hr and 37 minutes. The whole movie is there, but why is it 23 minute shorter? Should I be encoding at 30 fps or 24? I don't understand why it is shorter. Any advice?

The fps is really the issue, I don't have slightest idea what tool you're using for encoding, so I can't help you with that one, but there are really three regular fps settings -- PAL (25fps exact), NTSC (~29.97fps, not 30) and NTSCFilm (~23.97fps). You can't change these, because otherwise your video ends up being longer or shorter if your encoding software is dumb.
