NO LIGHTS AND CONTROLLER WON'T SYNC

my friend just had his 360 flashed, he has a samsung, and when my buddy flashed it he said the lights didn't come on. the 360 was on and it ejected and got flashed. well when i went to play it to test it for him, i got no ring of lights and the controller wouldn't sync. i tried another controller and it wouldn't connect either. i hooke them up to another xbox and they worked. i tried to sync it over and over and it just searches then goes back to flashing. when i plug the controller in with the usb i could turn on the xbox that way but it won't select the controller. and i know my usb works because i plugged in my usb for my keyboard and i could move through my screens with my keyboard. my question is could the ring of lights being out be part of the problem and if i replace the ring of lights module will that help?

i dont know if it will fix it or not but i can tell you i had the exact same problem, here is a link to my post.
i ended up changing it out where i bought it, i was lucky when it happened, i just had it about 1 week or so and i had not modded it.

p.s. it was a hitachi drive, dont know what firmware.
