Ok well basically my PS2 wont play any Dual Layer games like God of War or Midnight club 3 etc. An original copy of God of war was tested on the PS2 before it was chipped and still didn't work. It's been cleaned by the people who chipped the PS2 no matter what i do they wont play dual layer games at all, it just says Read Disc Error, and sometimes just continues to keep loading and nothing happens, this happens for Original and backed up games. Also the PS2 is pretty old, any idea's? if this question has already been answered then sorry could you link me to the right page if not then any help would be appreciated :)

What type of modchip is it? What version PS2? If the PS2 is pretty old, and you say it wouldnt even play the original God of War, then it may very well be your laser.

The best way to know what chip you have is by taking it apart and looking. If your sure its matrix infinity, here is a guide for it.
Here is a guide to show you how to take apart if needed.
Ok since it was cleaned does it play CD and DVD games ok, original or backup.
To tell what version PS2 you have look here.

Ok then if the infinity manager is installed press Triangle when you boot it up, and it will take you there. If its not installed refer to the guide I gave a link to in above post.
You can then make sure DVD 9 is On ? Allows use of Dual Layered PS2 game backups. You are also able to check other configurations in that menu.
If it does not then boot the backup, like I say you probably have a weak or dying laser. It is well worth to fix it, with that modchip and if other backups are also giving you problems.
