Hi all,
wonder how good is the xvid files? I've not try this file before and only tried divx format and find that is good.
also couldn't find any xvid format from any sites. Anyone could kindly share 1 or 2 this files for me to try?
I've downloaded & installed the decode Xvid-1.1.3, is there enough in order to play this files?

Thanks for any help
Jon

I've used both Divx and Xvid, I think Divx has the better quality at lower file sizes. Xvid is the format more people use because the codec is free. Difference is minimal between both of them.

below website has done test on all the available formats and has samples on each of them.

I have read that Divx gives a more softer image and Xvid is a little sharper. I think it is preference. I have used both and depending on the encoder they are fairly even. I have used many different processes but currently am converting everything to Xvid only because I found a encoder that meets all my needs. That is the key.

I started with Divx but had problems with the encoder and the audio/video quality. So I tried Xvid with a different encoder and it worked great on most movies but was having some troubles with audio sync on a few. I have now found a encoder that does flawless conversions. It is tough finding the happy medium.

Good luck.

Hi jony218 & smarthome,
Thanks to both of you given me your experiences and info's. I've tried the sample file, and found only that slight diff from xvid to divx. I do agreed the divx is more smooth than xvid.
I also found that a lot of divx trailers can be easily find from the web sites, but not the xvid.
