Im going to purchase the Elite tomorrow. From what i understand it has a 120 gig HD and comes with cables and HDMI? ... and is easy to mod? yes/no?

I have a burner that can do the job with the games ( Sony awq170a ) ... would someone please check that im correct on that, everywhere i've read it's a dual layer, but i just want to be sure.

also, do i NEED a SATA card? cuz if you have SATA drives on you pc, couldnt you just crack your pc open, and plug your xbox drive into your pc motherboard and boot like that? no need for a sata card?

last one ... does the elite come with HDDVD capability?

ok no the elite does not come with hd-dvd built in.

easy to flash dvd firmware.......mmmyeahish, Alot now come with the 79fl drive but hopefully you can get a benq instead because the 79fl drives need a chip to flash

Your burner is good to burn games, any dvd dl drive really is.

It depends on what kind of sata is built in the motherboard. Usually yeah it does work but sometimes it doesnt. Only way to tell for sure is to open your computer and try..

The Elite comes with....

Consule
120GB harddrive
HDMI cables
Component cables
Ethernet cables
1 wireless controller

However I really reccomend just getting the premium. It comes with all the same stuff minus 100GB and a hdmi cable (however you still get the hdmi port) that you can buy for $10. Your never going to fill 20GB cause you can't load movies on your hardrive. Get what you want im just telling you what im reccomending.

yeah i'm the man

What you get with the premium over the lower consoles is really just some extra's. Like a wireless controller, headset and stuff like that. Not to mention the bigger HDD.

I agree that you will probably not fill up the 20GB unless you are an Xbox Live Marketplace junkie. There are a lot of game add on's, movies, music, TV. and arcade games that you can download to the HDD.
If that is your sort of thing then go for the 120GB systems like the Premium or Elite.

all but one is easy to mod, i think it was the Hitachi 079 that you do not want. The problem is how will you know which drive you have until you have already bought it. There are list online that may help but they can not be 100% accurate, they can only give you some help in trying to get it right.

The wireless controllers take rechargable battery packs. Why would you want that? Just wait to see how long your regular batteries last and see how often you have to replace them. If i were you i would go wireless controllers and then also buy this:

best $30 you will ever spend when it comes to your 360.
I always have one in the controller and one on the charger so i NEVER have a controller with a dead battery.

sweet lord, after doing a little reading .... i've come to the conclusions that ALL xbox controllers are wireless?! .... WHY?! ... to make me buy batteries? ... there are some things that just dont need wireless technology .... keyboards, mouse, game controllers .... they took something that worked perfectly, and made it have a flaw .... great, now i really dont know if i want one.

They do make wired controllers, but I think the system only supports up to 2 at a time. While you may not like the idea of wireless controllers, these ones are really quite convenient. For starters, you can use the wireless controllers to turn on and off your system. Also, I've never had any problems with bad connections.

I agree with steimy about the rechargeable batteries. I don't own the dual battery charger that he gave the link for, but I have a cable charger that attaches to the top of the controller and plugs into the console via USB. With it, I can continue playing while the controller charges. Or, I can use it to charge the controller by plugging it into a USB port on my computer while I'm gone.
