Sid 4 will not let me back up my eeprom

Please help

I have been trying to fix my sons xboxs that I had some one soft mod for me a while back. It looks like the the original game save was removed and it corupted the soft mod. I have figured out a good bit of the process already from this form but now I am stuck. When I use Sid 4 to remod the xbox it will not back up my eeprom it just locks up. I can go through file explorer and access the mod and play the games that are on the hard drive but I can not get the xbox to boot the mod. I have tried to remove the mod with sid 4 but that does not work. I have all the files saved on my computer and tried to FTP them all back in but that does not restore the mod either. Can anyone explain how to fix this?
