I once had a PSP FW 1.5 when I bought it and then I (stupidly) upgraded to FW 3.90 so I could play the PSP Demos. Is there a way that I can reformat my PSP so that I can get my old 1.5 back? Damn my noobiness...

no such thing. you will need to use pandora's battery and magic memory stick to get to 1.50, or better, custom firmware.
