Winavi is not the best out there, but there are not many options to convert RMVB files. Does your player play Divx files, or just mpeg?
I use Winavi to convert RMVB files to DVD and I actually get decent quality( as much quality you can get from a 300MB compressed file). Did you use any quality settings when you converted , or just the fast encoding settings?

Here is another one you could try:

http://www.jakeludington.com/ask_jake/20...ies_to_dvd.html

Also, ConverxtoDVD can convert RMVB files to DVD if you download some extra dll files( they come with RealAlternative if you have it installed)

Info there about a free tool.. rename your file extension to .rm and it works just great.

You were given some options, I suggested to convert using higher quality settings with Winavi, and Varnull gave you another option for conversion...Did you try any?!

You can try Any_Video_Converter. It is a free converter also and works pretty good:
