PSP Does not turn on Power led turns orange and shuts off

I have a friends PSP. He asked me to see if I could fix it. When he gave it to me he said that the psp does not turn on. After checking it out the green light came on but the screen never lit up. I thought it could be a bunch of things (Bad board, bad Power switch, Bad LCD, Bricked??).
I tried several things, here is the list below.

1. I swapped out the battery with other batteries - No luck there.
2. I Tried to power it with the charger - No Luck Again.
3. Played with the switch several times - Nothing again.
4. I tried to run pandoras battery - This is where I thought I was having some success. I put the battery in and it worked like a charm. The screen lit right up, I followed the instructions and it worked straight through to the end. I shut down and then removed the battery. I Plugged the power cord in and I got nothing. Just an orange light. I decided to put another fully charged battery in and all it will do is turn orange while I am toggling the switch. As soon as I let go the LED goes out. When I swtch it to hold the orange LED stays on. (this is the power LED that I am referring to).

I am thinking that the power switch may be bad as I got the PSP to power up using Pandora battery but I cant get it to power using the switch.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to open the PSP unless its absolutely necessary.

Here is the update.

A month ago I purchased a used PSP with a smashed screen for parts. I mostly wanted to tear down a PSP for the purpose of seeing for myself how it works. I decided that I had nothing to lose on my friends PSP so I started taking it apart.

I took out the power switch module and I swapped it out with the one from the one with s smashed screen. I tossed the battery in before putting it back together to test if it worked. It worked perfectly. while in there I also swapped out the Directional pad as I was having trouble getting the right button on the D Pad to respond. I put it back together a few minutes ago and tested it again and it worked perfectly.

As a side note I also checked the firmware to see if the down grade worked. I was in CFW 3.71 M33. That is the first time I used the 3.80 magic memory stick. It was awesome as I didnt have to upgrade 5 more times after running pandora. It did it all at once. I was very Impressed. I followed the Tutorial by Larrylje at this address:

Larrylje is a Genius as it was the easiest CFW downgrade I have ever done.

I figure by documenting my troubleshooting success this thread may be able to help someone else as I had a difficult problem trying to find info on fixing this problem.
