I just purchased a ten pack of Pine DVD -R media that says that it can burn at 4X. However, when I inserted the disc into my LG Burner, nero told me I could only burn. This is soo dissapointing to me.

Has anyone out there had this prob with Pines?? Or has anyone out there purchased pines with no probs. Please let me know guys and gals!!

There is no universal 4X discs. The LG is very picky on what it will burn at 4X. The Pines aren't a good match for your burner.

The LG will burn RitekG04's at 4X, but not well (note: since the A302 upgrade they now burn nicely). It will burn Taiyo Yudens at 4X, very nicely, but these are very expensive discs. My advice to you would be to stick to RitekG03's (2X) as they are a near perfect match with a great burn, start to finish, for the LG and are good quality and can be had for <$1. Maybe the next firmware update for the LG will help things.

I have one of the new Nu Tech ddw-081 burners which are 8x write and 4x rw and the Pine cd's work fine. The same ones i imagine, a 10 pack in a yellow box, only costed $15.95 canadian too which blew me away, i expected them to be much more expensive.

Before that i wasted my money on some memorex dvd-rw 1x - 2x which won't in the drive at all though. Guess i'll stick to 4x discs in the future. I've yet to figure out which brand of 4x discs will let me burn at 8x with my drive, which it says you can on the box.
