I'm having 2 problems. (1)While decrypting store bought dvd's, The buffer does not kick in. I'm not sure how that effects the outcome of the movie.

(2) After the movie is decrypted I copy to a vts folder with dvd2One. Next, I burn the movie from the vts file to a blank dvd using CopytoDVD. When I attempt to play the burned copy on my dvd player, I get the following error "Disc error unable to read disc." The burned copy will only play on my pc when I open each individual vts file.

Please help. What am I doing wrong????? Frustrated...

Hi,
The first problem is nothing to worry about....it all depends on the transfer speed of your drive and the write rate of your HD -> it won't affect your rip.

As for the second problem, this can be caused by a few things.

One is cheap media: don't use bargain basement DVD-Rs, as standalones can be quite picky about them and write errors can become a problem.

Another is the burning software that you use: I originally used CopyToDVD, but one of my two players just wouldnlt accept the disks. These days I use RecordNowMax, and have no problems with compatability. Here's a guide for RecordNow and a link to download a 30-day free trial: http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/recordnowmax.htm

Finally, some standalones just aren't compatable with DVD-R and/or DVD-RW. Head over to www.dvdrhelp.com and consult their tables to ensure that your player supports your media.

Good luck...

Thanks, Yuriv for your timely response, experience and knowledge. I have been using Sony media and I admit I have had problems with my burned copies (pauses, skipped frames, distorted picture, etc) but never related it to grade of media.

I will check out RecordNowMax. Happy holidays.
