Hiya Sam42,
why "Ignore Error" checked?
will the film play properly, without glitches etc.?
You could try playing the film, pausing, THEN running DVDDecrypter (without closing the player application).
Maybe the disk is corrupt!!

Thankx for the suggestion...but it didn't work. Disk is not corrupt. There were over 9743 error in reads in Decrypter, not what I would like to try manually.
Tried DOS,even ,both Windows command line and booted with 2.2. I could see the main file, but not copy or xcopy it. Not surprising considering its size. Attrib was R on all disk files, but I could copy the others.
Still trying---

Hiya Sam42,
Let's clear a few things up first,
does the original disk play OK on the PC?
on a standalone?
on someone elses kit (pc and/or standalone)?
play OK means no lockups/pauses/judders/read errors etc.
can you rip OTHER original disks without errors?
can you rip THIS original on someone elses PC?
Sorry 'bout all the questions, they are important, just trying to eliminate a variable or two from the equation ;-)
I can understand you will have problems from DOS etc because the drive would not have been properly authenticated, that is normal...
As you are getting errors there is definately a problem, the trouble is, tracking the problem down, more info is better...

The original disk plays OK on the PC and on a standalone, no lockups/pauses/judders/read errors etc.
I can rip OTHER original disks without errors, but
don't have access to someone elses PC.
I CAN copy other files from the DVD drive using DOS 6.2 and DOS Win2K shell. DOS reports read errors on the main movie file, just like the other appplications.
Still working on this puzzle...

Hmmmm,
ignoring the fact that you cannot do a test rip on another PC, it is beginning to look as if the disk might have a different/extended/additional anti-piracy measure embedded in it, and as such I could understand the current crop of rippers having problems with it.
May be a variant of RCE as found on some region 1 disks.
Can you post info about the disk, please.
year of film.
year of copyright.
studio name etc.
any RCE markings on it?
what region?
etc. etc.
You have piqued my interest with this one (I love a good problem).
Have Fun...

You could try the anydvd trial, and then just copy the entire dvd to your hard drive, using no ripping tools whatsoever, if that does not work then your dvd has a problem with it. Oh, in a seperate post rce protection is mentioned, anydvd can also defeat rce protection. http://www.slysoft.com
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

I had a similar problem.
Looking at the title, it's a pretty old movie. My guess is that it's a somewhat older DVD, right? Perhaps a few scratches?
That's what happened to me. The DVD I was using would play FINE in my standalone but would stop ripping because of errors.
I got a NEW version of my DVD and ripped fine.

Yeah, it's an older DVD. I hoped to use the backup, but I guess I'll just have to be more careful with the original.
Thanks to everyone.
