I've modded 360's in the past, but none with a BenQ drive. I recently moded my new xbox 360 with HDMI output, that came with a BenQ drive. It still plays originals just fine, however, any and all backups (of which I've tested on other modded consoles, and they work perfectly), gives me the error of:
"To play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console"
I am using the newest BenQ, iXtreme 1.4.1 at 12x. I'll try dropping it down to 4x and see if that makes a difference.

iPrep 101 with a USB memory stick, and a 6421 SATA controller card, that I've used in the past to mod a MS28 Samsung drive...

I finally got it working properly. I got a copy of my existing firmware, and than rather than using the built in auto-mod application that is setup when I download the existing firmware, I instead used the Ixtrem firmware patch program that comes with the firmware update, and once again rebooted from USB. The firmware update I used through using the Ixtreme firmware program fixed my problem.
Thanks for reviewing my problems =)
