I am just starting to learn how to do this but this is about the third dvd that has a message like this "dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue The error is: failed to read from file The reason is: copy protection error: the read failed because the sector is encrypted" i tried running it throught the decrypter but i get a similar answer. what do i do becaue i want to be able to burn all the movies? is it my burner? i have an asus which came with my computer. Thanks for all your help.

stidemon,

I find it hard to believe that you have had 3 DVD's in a row that DVDShrink AND Decrypter can't rip. Perhaps they aren't installed properly, try uninstalling them and then reinstalling them (remember to reboot your computer after each step to complete the process).

Are you sure that you are following the guides to the letter?? Try installing DVDShrink from this site and following the guide offered here -

A complete DVDShrink program download and step-by-step guide can be downloaded from ? http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/DVD_Shrink_v3_beta5.htm

My last suggestion is to install AnyDVD. That should rip them.

Thanks for your help but i figured it out. I reinstalled everything like you said and it didnt help. i even got dvd x copy from a friend but that was just crap. i think it was a downloaded version with a hack that was just not working properly because it let me burn the movie but when it was done nothing is on the dvd. Well anyway. the problem was that i created a shortcut for the shrink program and thats how i opened it. it caused all the problems because once i deleted it and opened it from the folder, everything worked normally. again thanks for your help and i figured i would let you know in case anyone else has a problem. thanks.
