I will.. it concerns me that it has never been thought of in the rules.
It only dawned on me the uses this information could be put to when I was asked did I have a dead such and such phone.. because there was a nice stolen and blocked one that needed a new imei flashing on it.. I didn't have one.. but I certainly found 6 or 7 imei's on the phone forums...
The way things are right now it isn't that serious of a matter.. in the next couple of years it will become very serious. As for now.. anybody caught using a phone with a cloned number is liable for arrest.. because that phone may be stolen.. if there are 3 or 4 floating around with the same number who is to say which one is the original.. people run the risk of being arrested and charged with criminal offences under the various anti theft and telecommunications laws.. for doing no more than being stupid and putting a secret and private piece of information on the net.
You wouldn't post your credit card number.. your phone imei can be used by criminals for gain in the same way. I'm not a criminal.. I provide publicly available information to others for a small fee.. what they chose to do with that information is completely up to them.
Now it's out in the open maybe somebody will say something about the situation... It may not have happened yet.. though I do recall seeing somewhere that some muppet posted his imei.. got his codes by pm and then a few weeks later had his phone blocked.
There is another way these codes can be used. Once the phone is reported lost/stolen.. it can be also reported to police, and an insurance claim made. You don't even have to have had the phone in your possession at any time.. you have the model and imei.. that's all you need... Of course again that has some serious implications for the real owner.. especially if they are trying to get a contract phone unlocked.. the phone in their pocket will be blocked..and they will also then be an accessory to insurance fraud.
You really don't want to be posting imei numbers on public forums.
I might be fun loving and wicked.. but there is a deadly serious side to me as well..

I would have told him to use one of the free ones, Avast or AVG, either are better than Norton System Hog.

There are programs that allow you to hack the boot.ini file. Mine has Jennifer Love Hewitt as my bootscreen. That's what it sounds like he wants to do.

A quick search reveals about 12 different varieties of XP now including the "9 in one" and "Gold Cobra SP3" I shudder to think of the extra bonuses found in these buggers.

Well Vista has some nice "toys" that XP users want, but don't want to install Vista. I can understand wanting to customize your OS. Computers are one thing that people love to customize the hell out of.
I love personalizing things. I just got myself a Xport Docking Station so that I can mod some maps for Halo 3. I play a lot of infection game types and sometimes it's nice to have some of the "little things" to add to the ambiance. Don't know if you have played the infection game 30 days of night on Cold Storage, but I modded the map to add some flood monsters and effects to create an eerier feeling while playing when it goes pitch black.

I grabbed 'XP Corporate Edition' once, which streamlined ie7, the only thing I didn't want in XP... haha.
