Hi I just bought a fat PSP last night and was wanting to know what are the benefits of modding it and what is the best way to do it, how to get started etc. Any help or redirecting would be great thanks.

What firmware are you on now and we'll go from there. The benefits are handsome and worth it.

by firmware i'd assume hat means system software and that is 3.80
|

Unfortunately your on too high of firmware to put custom firmware without a pandoras battery. Your gonna have to buy one or make one. This is what you'll need.

so thats what I have to do is order that $20 to make it able to be modded. There is no way to downgrade the firmware is there?

No. The last safest downgrade was at 2.71. You can hardmod your battery and then try to solder it back or use a pencil to connect the curcuit again but its very risky. If while cutting the pin you arc the pin next to it, Your battery is toast.

You need to create the MMS (Magic Memory Stick)
Go Here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610312
Connect your psp to the computer through USB, more info on that page.
Once youve finished making the magic memory stick, take the normal battery out, take the memory stick out and put it back in (sometimes doesnt work without this step), and then insert the Pandora/ Tool Battery you have
Right now, i'd recomend going to 3.71 M33-4

ok well I went through the steps and when I put in the pandora/tool battery the green pwer button is on but the screen is black and I am not able to do anything

alright I got the 3.71 m33-3 downloaded on the psp and every thing seems to be working fine. now what am I able to do with this mod?
