OK, I just installed a Wiikey, it wouldn't read ANYTHING, backups or original Wii disks, but the thing is, when I put in the Brawl disk, it updated itself!
Brawl still doesn't run though, it gives me the black screen unable to read disk screen, but now I'm wondering if there's something I can do to fix the problem since it was able to update itself.

same thing here except with a d2ckey and my wii reads everything but brawl(and i got the update).

Try using different media. Evidently your doing something wrong since there has been tons of users that play the game perfectly fine on there modded system including D2CKey.
