What to buy xbox360 dvd rom?? backup games

I want to backup my 360 games.

Which drive is the easiest to flash, as i was looking on ebay to buy a new one because i have the hitachi 79 and ive read its a pain to flash...

What i want to know is there one that is easy to flash? and can i do a direct swap out of my 360 once i get the new one??

so i need a flashed drive to hook into the computer to read the games.

then i need to get a replacement drive and flash that myself for the xbox, if i dont want to flash the hitachi 79 in it atm.

then i have to extract the drive key from the old one.
Is that right?
and how would i get the drive key ?

since you have the hitachi 79 i would give up on modding it. as you have to chip it before you can even flash it. best bet is to sell it, and pick up a 360 that doesnt have the 79 in it.

i thought if i swap the dvd roms out i wont need to chip it cause id have a different rom :), way easier, plus i like 1080p hdmi so i dont want an older xbox

nope, to swap out drives you have have the orig.bin from the original drive, so you have to flash the 79 drive to replace it.

I agree with wabashman
The most simple solution is just to sell the one you have and get a newer one that doesn't have that drive. I figure the difference between what you sell the current one at and what the new one costs may be about the same as the things you will need to mod what you have now.
