I rip with dvdfab and when I burned a dvd using nero, the result was "reversed". I have tried to find an answer in the forums, but cannot seem to find a similar problem. I use dvdfab to rip, then use dvd shrink to combine vob files to one 4.17G file, as I am currently building a HTPC and would like to have the same size for all movies and use vlc to view one vob file. I do burn dvds for use in a stand-alone player, but all my rips reverse the image when put through nero. Any ideas? BTW, I have just joined, but learned everything I know so far from afterdawn. What a great resource! Thanks.

I burn the single, 4G file through nero. I rip only the main movie, with only 5.1 sound. I have found that dvdfab has a tick for "allow nero burning" or similar phrase. I just tried that, and the image is upside down and backwards??? I have only burned 700mb rips that I have downloaded before, and they all work perfect.
Here is my exact process: Rip dvd with dvd fab platinum using Main Movie option. I rip to dvd5 size, this gives me a 4gb movie, in 1gb chunks. I then run thru dvd shrink 3.2, which gives me a single 4.17 gb file. I then use nero 8, make dvd movie option. I add the single VOB file from dvd shrink, and I make my own menu. when I preview, it is backwards???
Can you offer another program where I can make my own menu (no chapters necessary), using my own background image and a sound file? I use a custom logo I designed with some great 70's pron music. It has a custom button I designed also. I would like to keep that stuff if possible, that is why I like Nero, and am comfortable with it, But I am open to all ideas! THanks

Just some more info and a correction, Nero 7 Ultra, not Nero 8. Also, I have just the VOB of the file, after it has been thru dvdfab and dvd shrink. I do not have original files, JUST the single VOB. I realize this was not the best way to do this, but I would like to salvage the 15 files I have saved this way, even with no menu etc, just would like to be able to burn to dvd, and not have it reversed! oh, i love computers.....

I started a thread in Nero forum, please use that one. I guess it would be a better place for this discussion, as I have narrowed the problem to Nero, I think.....

SOrry, I realized problem would be better addressed in different forum. Is there a way to cancel this forum? This is my first (and now second) thread. I tried to include the link to the new thread, but I see it did not work right. Again, sorry for the problem.

I am very confused... ? Do you want a single VOB file to burn as a data disc or would you like to simply burn it as a standard DVD? A standard DVD is comprised of 1gb VOB files not a single 4gb file. So after you rip it with DVD Fab, you can simply open the "Burn DVD Video Files" option in Nero, drag your files into the VIDEO_TS folder and burn away.
If you want to create or use a custom menu, any DVD authoring program will do the trick. Nero has one built in (under "Make Your Own DVD Video"). Some others would include TMPG DVD author, Cyberlink Power Producer, Ulead Video Studio etc.
In regards to the reversed image. It could be tricky to figure that one one out but it could be one of your installed codecs is buggy or conflicting.

Just to clarify, the video does not play in reverse, the image is reversed. Imagine watching the video in a mirror. It has also appeared upside down before as well. I have not completed a burn yet, only previewed in nero, so no button stuck...
I have just about every darn dvd rip/burn ware I could find:anydvd, clonedvd, xilisoft suite, #1 dvd ripper, convertxtodvd, dvd decrypter, and even more, so the possibility of a conflict is a real good possiblity, with all those various programs interacting with codecs etc. It is probably time to clean a few off, will see what happens. I will also try some other dvd authoring software, see what happens. Thanks, and will update anything I find.

Ryu77 - Regarding the codecs, my experience with codecs is very limited. What codecs or what process should I go about when dealing with nero? I have installed xvid and divx myself, but what codec does nero use that could 'be buggy' and possibly cause this reverse image? Or, would you recommend just a clean install of nero? I can get nero 8, but have read it might be a little buggy as well? Note that when I burn an avi file, it previews and burns correct I have tried a fresh rip, with dvdfab, and when I take it to nero, right back to a reverse image....thanks
