When i play backups or imports the laser stops moving altogether

i keep it closed btw, i have no idea why this is happening...it doesnt do this on normal games but on backups and imports...i just bought the ps2 a week ago, any ideas?

what type of mod are you using? softmod/harmod name of too!

were you able to play backups before?
do you get an error message?

I was able to play backups fine before

i don't get an error message, it boots the game then stops reading it, when it attempts to read it again it doesn't work and the lasre makes noises as if it were jammed.

For some strange reason...putting a medium weight textbook workd wonders....it doesn't skip anymore
