so I have been using DVD Shrink with no success on my new Vista machine. I started using Nero 8 Recode. Anyone know anything about Recode. Seems to be working fine and my DVDs play in my player.

luvendo,
The author of DVDShrink went to work for Nero and not CloneDVD. LOL as I know that slipped your mind as I knew you knew the correct answer.

ajd3575,
Are you running Shrink as Admin; if not you need to for it to work properly.

Nero software is good but it is getting really bloated w/ some updates causing more harm that good.

I have been backing up the series Reilly: Ace of Spies. It is in four discs and each of them have three episodes. The first two were perfectly playable, but the second and third disc would not play the first episod. When I choice the first (in each disc) from the menu, they simply went back and repeated the choices again and again. I checked on my computer to see if they had been recorded and they had. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is the brand name of the blank media you are using? It sounds like a possible compatibility issue or the player is not reading the .ifo correctly.

I take it that you are using Vista and DVDShrink?

I am using TYs and XP. I have burned several other dvds just before and after and no problem; in fact, it is a series of four discs and the first two do not pose the same problem.

frbernard,
Try running Nero Speed test on the original DVD's and see if there are any errors on the pressing. If there are error's then you need to exchange them for better disks.

What program are you using to rip the DVD to the HD?
