I'm having a problem .. my friend lent me his hard drive from his modded 360 (as he got the red ring of death and sent it back to microsoft) his console reads his copied games..but it wont play them in my plain jane 360 with his hd connected.. can anyone give me some idea as to why this is so ?? Might it be because his was modded with a chip and not flashed and what does flased mean is that just for the hard drive or the console ??

Did they both have the same dvd drive. Such as a samsung or a benq

I am not sure his was a chrome dvd drive and mine is white to match the console ...? how would i find that out .???

There's nothing in the hard drive which will let you play copied games. It's the dvd drive in the 360 which is either modded via firmware update or a modchip.

No I didnt take it anywhere, I just assumed it was modded via the HD and if it was installed in mine it would work ..I apparantly am mistaken ...hahaha .. So if I was to get mine modded or to do it myself is there anything I should know like will it make any difference in the machine, namely playing regular games without the HD as mine doesn't have one??

You'd still be able to play backups without a hdd.

So I was reading that there are different ways to use the firmware to play backups. How am I to know which firmware I need and how to copy them to play on my machine?
