PLDS, the joint venture between Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions, has announced the DX-4O1S, a new, faster BD-ROM external drive set to hit stores by April. The player is only a BD-ROM however and will not having burning capabilities. The drive works via a USB connection making Blu-ray playback very simple. Herein lies the benefit of the console war being over. Companies finally know what their objective is all about. No more fooling around with consumer debates, quality, or anything. Now they know what there needs to be done and everything's fine.

..And by "any PC" you mean any ***dows based PC protected... i mean infected by DRM.

Linux users should expect Blu-Ray drivers when hell freezes over.

Linux users are being left out in the cold with Lite-On probably making the external Blu-ray drive Windows OS compliant only.

Even though I rarely use Linux, it'd be nice if companies would allow hardware such as Blu-Ray external/internal Drives be able to use other OSs.

I will not be getting one of the blu-ray drives until and unless they have burning capabilities that are at leas 10x and that the prices will be at a reasonable affordable price.
