Like 30 Days of Night http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/632862, there's not much here:
Quote: Media is a DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2055456 sectors (4014 MBytes)
Total size: 4109980 sectors (8027 MBytes)
Video DVD (or CD) label: BEOWULF_DC
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!
Found & removed RCE protection!
Structural copy protection not found.
Changed firstplay: Jump directly to TitleMenu!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Bad sector protection not found.
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
It's a Paramount DVD.
I ripped this with DVDFab 4051, just for the hell of it. No problems. AnyDVD 6315 was able to "open" the disc without any problems also.

DvdFab > FixVts > Dvd Shrink > ImgBurn
Compression was good. No problems here either.
So far it's another easy week of New Titles.

I don't think Paramount DVDs usually have tough encryptions. But yeah it's good that there are few threads popping up with these titles.

Both those titles can be ripped by dvd shrink all by its self.
Both are very good movies if you love blood and guts!!!

A little gratutous nudity wouldn't have hurt in either flick!
Beowulf: Awesome. With the computer animation,I thought it was going to be corny.
30 Days of Night: Pretty good. I thought it was another corny vampire movie like Undead or Alive. It looked more like a Steven King flick.

Lol. Agreed!
I was surprised at how much i enjoyed both flicks despite what i thought going into them.
I was equally surprised at how easy all the titles were this week.

garmoon: Try reading the book, LOL!!! It put me to sleep back in high school.
Once you past the beginning and get accustomed to the wierd 1/2 computer, 1/2 real animation ,it'll grow on you. Heck of a lot better than the book.
300:Also very good. Can't wait for Meet the Spartans!!! When 300 came out,I had to watch all my gladiator movies that week: Gladiator,Troy, and Alexander.

I'll just have to watch this one again. I wasn't real thrilled with it thus far.
Now 300, i liked...and am looking forward to Frank Miller's Sin City 2.

We fortunately just learned about Beowulf and Grendel. Thank good we didn't have to read it in the language that it was written. 300, I liked from the first viewing.

I guess my small school was the only school that required us read the major Epics: Beowulf,Canterbury Tales,The Odyssey, and Shakespeare.
Everyone I work with never heard of Beowulf, one of the oldest epics of mankind and the author is unknown.

While my school did not require reading those, with the exception of Romeo and Juliet, I read all of them anyway. I have always enjoyed a good book.
I'm sure the tattered paperback is still around somewhere.

I'd rather watch the movie than read it, LOL.
I wished we had these dvd movies back then. VHS movies were $100 a pop when I graduated! 10 channels on the TV was about it as well.

There was something much better "Cliffs Notes"! You didn't have to read the book or watch a VHS.

I'm actually having difficulty with this one. DVD Shrink keeps saying I need a DL and my regular DVD-R doesn't have enough room to fit the movie but I don't know why because DVD Shrink says it's only 4463mb. Am I just totally missing something here or what?

I see that Beowulf is supposed to be an easy backup, yet I'm having some trouble. I'm trying to backup the Director's cut. Here are my steps: DVDFAB 4.0.5.1 > FixVTS > DVD Shrink. It encodes just fine but when I insert a disc to backup it tells me the file is too big and I need a bigger disk. I then went back and looked at the size of the file and I was good there. Is there something else hiding on the disk that DVDFAB didn't see?

try doing the movie only and see if that works
