I heard a while back that MGS4 would include MGO aswell. Is that in a special pack or the standard package? And on gamespot and other websites I see that the release date for MGS4 is Q2 2008 but on MGO it still says TBA. Does this mean that it will only be available seperate? or with MGS4 and seperate? Also one last thing, if its included with MGS4 how much do you think it will cost? im willing to pay more than I would normally for a game to play this, but I hope the price isnt ridiculous, i'd probably still pay it though :D

Well mgo wasn't included with the original MGS3 game either. IMO they are either going to do the same thing they did last time with a special edition of the game, or they will release MGO separately as an online only game.
Either way I don't see them releasing MGO with the original game, and that is probably a good thing as well, it would be a disgrace for anyone to skip the story mode for a game as well done as this and go strait online.

I dont see how they can not release the online part with the game, i dont think i have ever had to buy a sepreat game just for the online part. I read somewhere on IGN that they were looking at releasing it sepreatly, but they commented that they dont know how well it will pick up if they do it that way, i think its a big mistake if they do! Seems like a money grab to me!

"At last year's Tokyo Game Show it was announced that the game would feature as part of the Metal Gear Solid 4 package. However, Konami is currently suggesting that Metal Gear Online will be a standalone title. While MGO is certainly a solid package, it may struggle to get itself heard if left all on its lonesome. In the wake of the inclusive mentality of the Orange Box, and Call of Duty 4 for that matter, it makes more sense to bundle the game with Guns of the Patriots, and a threadbare edition of the game featured with Snake's supposed last outing with additional content available to download over the aforementioned shop would stand more of a chance against the big guns."

No other online game on the PS3 could hold a candle to MGO, period. The only reason they are saying that is because the MGO with MGS3 wasn't too popular, and that was because they released it a year after the original title and on top of that they did absolutely no advertising for it. This is an entirely different matter.

Have they even said a particular date of release? All i can see is Q2 or Q1 2008.
I sure hope they release it together or at least as a download on the PSN.

From Joystiq.
Quote: As you've probably figured out by now, practically any release date you hear for Metal Gear Solid 4 should probably be punctuated by the word "Probably." We'll have to actually open our retail copy up and see that there's not just a note with the words "Coming Soon" written on it before we'll believe that it's actually out.
That said, there's apparently a new "official" date coming out of retailers conference Destination PlayStation: June 12, 2008. Before you get out a calendar: Yes, that date falls on a Thursday. No, we don't get it either. We've emailed Konami for official word, but for now we feel pretty comfortable in reporting that June 12 is the new future former release date of Kojima's baby.
Additionally, there's word that a new PS3 bundle featuring an 80GB system (apparently still in production), MGS4, and the DualShock 3 controller is in the works. We've reached out to Konami for confirmation.
Update: An SCEA press release distances itself from the reported June 12 date, stating only a vague "late Q2 2008" release for MGS4. The statement does confirm the aforementioned bundle, along with news of a Metal Gear Online beta test.
Second paragraph from the press release.
Quote: To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal
Gear Solid(R)4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a
PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal
Gear Solid(R)4: Guns of the Patriots and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller
for $499 (MSRP).

The japanese version has both MGO and MGS4 in the one box.
And they are doing a bundle apparantly with new hardware, but that could just mean that they are going to start and use the 80gb model.

Today it was confirmed MGS4 is out 12 june worldwide. If pre-ordered you get a code to join the MGO beta test and a Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD. Would I still get this if I pre-ordered it off amazon? or is it only at retail stores?

I hope that some parts being compressed doesn't cause any loss of quality. I wouldn't mind if they left it uncompressed and put it on 2 blu ray discs, it's no big hassle to swap a disc. Imagine it on the xbox " Please Insert Disc 17. " Now that would be a hassle. :-)

From QJ(Original source Hatimaki blog)
Quote: In an interview, Kojima explained that his team had to compress many elements of Metal Gear Solid 4 to make it fit in the disc. While they managed to squeeze the game into Blu-ray, Kojima said the quality could have been better if there was more capacity to work with.
So it seems the quality has been compromised, but it will still look amazing.

I fail to see why they refuse to do multi disks, I'd be definitely willing to pay more if it meant that the game would be even a little bit better as this game will be a legend and sacrificing quality shouldn't be an option.
