I've installed cfw on a phat using a slim battery before, I have a Pandora's battery and a magic memory stick, but I'm trying to install it for a friend but his psp doesn't want to turn on with my battery. The only difference between the two phats is the one I did it on successfully was OE3.60 and the one I'm having trouble with is OE3.90, but I don't think the FW would make a difference because the power isn't coming on all together. I have a magic memory stick and my computer is there anyway I can install it using only that? Or a usb connection to my psp? Or how to softmod his fat battery? Or perhaps the easiest method, getting my battery to work.
Any help is appreciated its for one of my students.
Thanks
My gues is it's the battery not making a good connection. Using a slim battery in a fat is a difficult fit. Try using the other fat with CFW to make a fat battery a Pandoras then try it. If not try to make a better contact with the slim battery.

I don't know but perhaps it's possible to softmod his phat battery in your slim... I know it fits cos I used a phat softmod to downgrade a slim. I just don't know if you can softmod it that way.
I tried again today, using my other students fat psp, even tried Pandora installer, won't work, says it won't run and gives me an error, tried using the Pandora installer on my psp too, same problem.
Pandora works in other psp's still so thats not the problem. I heard there is a Pandora GUI by MrDude, any chance I can use that using his fat OE psp and his battery?
Extract it and place the ospbt_05 folder onto your PSP SLIM Memory Stick ms0:/PSP/GAME folder.
Insert a FAT battery into your PSP SLIM and run OS Pandora Battery Tool. Select "backup battery eeprom to ms0:/eeprom.bin"
Now convert it to service mode "convert to service mode"
After you do the custom firmware install run the OS Pandora Battery Tool again and restore the EEPROM by selecting "flash only serial from ms0:/eeprom.bin"
More then likely the reason the Pandora installer isn't working is due to an older version that needs 1.50 kernel to run. The SLIM PSP is not compatible with 1.50 homebrew. So the OS Pandora Battery tool should work since it is for 3.XX custom firmware.
