i am very new so i do appoligise!
am i write in using the dvd decrypter 2 decode my dvd then using dvd clone to make the film smaller so it will fit on a dvd-r?

You are correct. There are many other programs you can use such as anydvd for decoding and dvdshrink for compressing.
