Install HDD in V9 PS2(with modchip), DVD not working

I have 2 V9,fat ps2 with modchips installed. I want to install HDD as my DVDROM is not reading all disks(only some). One ps2 reads some disks the other one doesnt read any. How can I use HDD to run games from it?? Any way to do without using DVDROM? PLz help

if your modchip is a matrix infinity, dms4, or crystal chip, then you can bypass the drive, because you can boot elf files from the chip, since they have flash memory.

if you don't have any one of those chips installed, then no. the memory card exploit (fats only) requires the use of the drive, since the exploit is booted from a ps1 disc. and all other types of hdd boot is using discs.


your other choice is to get a new laser, and replace it.
