Been away from PS2 scene for about a year and want to get the hack//gu games... Is Swap Magic still the best way to play back-ups?

For the fat PS2, no. For the slim PS2 its actually very simple. You can buy the Swap Magic discs with the Magic Keys II for the new slim PS2's and you'll be ready to go. Also it is very easy to install the flip top on the slim PS2's "V12 I think, the newest ones can't have that" but you'll be voiding the warranty with the flip-top.

The reason why its not the best solution for the fat PS2 is because the fat PS2 you'll either need a slide card or a flip top. The slide card is an aggravating pain in the butt to deal with and it is frustrating to use. Also again for the PS2 you will be voiding your warranty if you install a flip-top.

Oh then yeah man. I am actually using the fat PS2 with swap magic with the top of the case totally removed.

For the fat PS2 you are definitely better off with the flip-top case and swap magic discs.
