I recently bought a new 360 to play on live and ive been having video problems. during cutscenes, the brightness on the screen will go high to low, flashing a little bit. it will also freeze sometimes, like it cant read the disk anymore. i dont get any errors tho. its a TS drive burned with ixtreme 1.4 and i set it to 8x read speed. my other 360 has a hitachi drive and i have the 2.2 firmware on it, but it doesnt do the color thing or freeze like the TS one does, i think because i never set a read speed, so i assume its at 12x. do you think flashing at 8x is the reason this is happening and if i re flash to 12x it will fix this? thanks.

From what i've read previous or other firmwares have had variable speeds, if it was set at 12x it would most likely be really loud all the time. At least this seems to be what people are saying, I recently flashed a hitachi at 8x (which is what i think most people use) and it didn't have any problems like that, you could always try the 12x and see if that fixes the problem.

yeah ill try at 12x to see what happens. Im not too worried about it being loud, i just want it to play right.

it could also be due to poor quality media. Not every drive is going to read the disc the same way.
Could also be the burning speed used when making the back up too.
If you are using originals that is the only time i would reflash it.

another thing i just thought of is when i got it (used) it was filthy inside. even inside the disk drive had dust everywhere. could it be just a dirty laser? is it safe to run that laser cleaner stuff inside the 360 drive?
